Transcription: Remedie was a refugee or immigrant from Italy, came over to this country about 1850 and he was hired to paint fresco paintings in the capital. He made the first fresco paintings ever to appear in the capital and possibly the United States of America. Spent 25 years painting here in the capital and this is only part of his work. These carders are dedicated to him because he painted all of them, of course, with some helpers and we've seen other examples of his work in the Great Rotunda and all through the Capitol.
